My name is Brittany Barnwell and I am currently pursuing my Ed.M in Dance Education with K-12 Certification at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.  Post-Graduation from Rutgers University, I hope to have the opportunity of becoming a Dance Educator in a Public High School.

I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Northern Illinois University with a BFA in Dance Performance plus a Minor in Spanish.  In 2008, while attending NIU, I became a member of “From The Hip Dance Project”, a professional Jazz Dance Company based in Chicago, IL, performing professionally throughout the Chicago land area.  Upon graduation from NIU, I continued to perform, as well as teach and choreograph throughout the Chicago-land area. My array of dance classes includes: Contemporary, Jazz, Jazz-Funk, Hip-Hop, Musical Theater, Pre-Dance Classes with students age ranging from Pre-School through Adult.  I also choreographed for several Productions such as Musicals and Dance Show’s in surrounding suburbs such as Highland Park, Glencoe, and Northbrook.  In addition, I volunteered my time and skills teaching dance to students in the ‘We Can’ program of the North Shore Health Center in Highland Park, IL plus the Nuestro Center in Highwood, IL.

I continue to live my life as an educator, bringing the gift of dance to all of my students so that they may have a chance to connect to their own artistic voice.
